Remington Model 1100 Serial Number Lookup

Description: Gas operated 5-shot autoloading shotgun

Introduction Year: 1963

Remington stamps a 2-letter code on their barrels (left side, just forward of the receiver) that indicates the month and year of manufacture of the barrel. Caveats: - If the barrel on your 1100 is not the original one that came with the gun, then all you'll find out is when the barrel was made. These codes seem to be accurate only up to 1994. Founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington. Company has distinction of being oldest firearms manufacturing firm in United States. Since 1856, it has been known by four different names: between 1856 and 1888, E. Remington & Sons; 1888-1910, Remington Arms Company; 1910-1925, Remington Arms U.M.C. Company (Union Metallic Cartridge Company); and 1925 to present, Remington Arms Company.

Greetings Remington Society
I recently inherited my grandfathers shotgun collection and apparently he loved OLD Model 11 12 Gauge Shotguns !!!!
I intend on restoring two or three of these for my brothers as family heirlooms.
Is there a published serial number to manufacturing date for model 11 12ga shotguns I can look up?
The research I've done suggests that the ones with bottom serial numbers are technically 'Auto-loading Shotguns' and the side SN are Model 11's is this correct?
Can you tell me what year and possibly month these were manufactured ??????
Thanx K2
